Katelyn Lee was born and raised in Meridian, Mississippi. She received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Mississippi in 2017. She was inspired to run by the high number of uncontested races in previous elections.
Katelyn believes strongly in the worth and dignity of every person. Everyone deserves a life not merely of surviving but of thriving. However, in one of the richest countries on Earth, too many people are not able to make ends meet. We have not created a system that gives everyone a chance at success. The only solution is to create reform, so that every citizen can access the basics of modern life: food, housing, healthcare, transportation, childcare, education, and communication.
Katelyn supports legislation that will meet the needs of communities in food deserts, increase the number of public housing units and renovate outdated or hazardous units, create universal healthcare, fund the establishment of public transportation in rural areas and renovate existing public transportation systems to be disability friendly, makes childcare affordable for families, makes public universities free, and helps local governments create publicly owned internet.
